Ideal for a romantic getaway. in summer have fun in the sun at the Russian River, and in winter enjoy the spectacular sights and tastes that Sonoma County wine country has to offer!

 

Conveniently located in downtown Monte Rio, the Meadowview Cottages are a charming group of 2 Studio cottages and a large one bedroom Main house sharing the same property, with access to the river from the back of the property, and a lovely meadow area between the property and the river.

 

There is a pathway at the back of the property leading to the meadow, which in turn leads to the Monte Rio Public Beach. In summer, you can rent kayaks and canoes at the beach, and at the cottages we provide two kayaks and a canoe for the guests to use as well as some water toys, and beach chairs.

 

Each cottage has a full kitchen if you’d like to prepare your own home cooked meals, but there are also good options within walking distance for dining out:

 

 The Rio cafe serves hot dogs, snacks and beer. Across the Monte Rio Bridge are the Highland Dell and the Village Inn, both excellent choices for dinner or to have a drink in the afternoon overlooking the river. Lucy's bar and restaurant is a local favorite with good food and friendly atmosphere. Fern’s market and deli is right next door providing an array of cooked pizza's etc. Forest Hills market is across the road with all the essentials you may need.

 

If you don’t mind driving a few minutes, the town of Guerneville is 4 miles away, and Occidental is 7 miles away; both have excellent choices for dining out. Occidental has a number of great food choices also.

 

For you wine enthusiasts, the closest winery is 8 miles away (Korbel), and just a bit farther from that is the turnoff to Westside/Dry Creek Road, a beautiful, winding country road with picturesque vineyards producing excellent quality wines. We recommend a visit to Sophie’s Cellars, a wine tasting room 4 miles away in the town of Duncan’s Mills, there is also wine tasting in Guerneville at the plaza. They can give you tips on which local wineries to visit based on your preferences.

 

There is an award-winning 9-hole golf course, Northwood, less than 1 mile away. Enjoy a round in the redwoods on an Alastair McKenzie(Augusta) designed course, followed by dinner and drinks in the spacious and scenic clubhouse restaurant.

 

The coast where the river meets the ocean at Jenner is 9 miles away. Spend the day exploring countless beaches and little towns.

 

In addition to the features described above, each cottage has a queen-sized bed, skylights, gas BBQ, cable TV, and WIFI. The three cabins are close to each other, but not adjoining, giving you added privacy.

We usually rent the cottages separately, but larger groups traveling together can rent the 3 Meadowview Cottages as a whole.

 

Sleeping accommodations:

 

Meadowview Cottage #2: Queen bed, Twin Aerobed. The size of the cottage makes this a good choice for a couple or a couple with 1 child.

 

HEAT SOURCE: Gas wall heater, electric wall fake flame heater

 

COMMON AREAS: Guests are welcome to enjoy the large central yard, which is shared among the 3 cottages. Each cottage has it's own private back deck with private hot-tub, table & Chairs and bbq..

 

RIVER ACCESS: Guests enjoy direct access to the large Monte Rio Town Beach just a short walk away. There is a path behind Cottages 1 and 2 leading to a gate that opens onto the riverfront meadow, which in turn leads to the Monte Rio Town Beach. The meadow is a public yet rarely used area and dead-ends at the cottages the meadow and beach are maintained by Monte Rio Parks and Rec. The beach is accessible year-round.

 

Rental Requirements:

 

2 night minimum Oct -May(excluding holidays).

 

3 night minimum June-Sept and for holiday weekends

 

If all 3 cottages are rented, there is a two-night minimum Sept-June, 3 night for holiday weekends and July/Aug
