Warm weather, well-known sights, and beautiful beaches draw visitors from across the globe to Florida. Some communities, on the other hand, have begun to capitalize on the yearly flood of tourists. And although certain tourist traps are worth a visit only to say, "I've been there and done that," these destinations offer better options.

Take advantage of these undervalued sites instead of wasting your time and money.

Instead of spending a fortune on vacation to Disney's Blizzard Beach, try floating down a natural lazy river in one of Florida's numerous cold springs.

The journey to one of the nearby springs or rivers is well worth it if you live in Orlando. Unlike Blizzard Beach, where you'll pay $62 for an adult and $56 for a kid, you'll pay less than $10 per person. Visitors are invited to bring their own floats and floating coolers stocked with food and drink to these natural lazy rivers, which are bordered by rope swings.

Go manatee swimming instead of going to Discovery Cove.

If you're an adult or a kid, you'll need to shell out anything from $229 to $379 for 30 minutes of dolphin encounter at the SeaWorld-owned amusement park. Consider spending the day in Crystal River with manatees instead of practically burning money. It costs less than $100 per person for an hour-long private tour of Florida's gentle giants.

Visit the Everglades instead of an alligator farm.

Alligator farms and theme parks abound across the state. All but a few of them are pricey, full of cheap tricks, and many of them mistreat the animals, which is a shame. If you want to see plenty of alligators and other native creatures in their natural environment, you should go to the Everglades. Tours, boat cruises, and wildlife discovery are all available.

If you're in Miami, skip LIV and go to Wynwood instead.

Clubbing in Miami is a given, but if you don't enjoy lengthy lineups, rude doormen, and overpriced drinks, steer clear of LIV. In Wynwood, you're more likely to have a good time in more low-key pubs or clubs like Wood Tavern or Gramps. There are more people now, so it's still a vibrant crowd, but it's more relaxed back, and no one is squeezed in like sardines.

When in Florida, avoid the common tourist traps and go for the suggestions mentioned above. Also, do not forget to book your rental stay at websites like Go For Vacation Rentals, where you can directly connect with the property owner and save the middlemen fee completely.
