Nestled on five “Lazy Acres,” this appropriately named mountain home with spectacular bluff view is just two minutes from the University of the South campus. The 2,500-square-foot house was built in 1988 and is newly renovated. With 500 added square feet of deck (both screened and open) and a vast great room complete with 10-foot ceilings, wood-burning fireplace, stereo and wet bar , Lazy Acres is the ideal spot to relax and enjoy friends and family year round. It’s perfect not only for parents’ weekends, homecomings and graduations at the University of the South and St. Andrews-Sewanee School, but also for retreats and other events at St. Mary’s Sewanee, which is within walking distance. The owners are Sewanee alumni and love the area for its relaxing atmosphere, outdoor activities, local events and food.

 

The house sleeps 8 people comfortably. Two upstairs bedrooms, each with bluff view, contain queen beds and are joined by a bathroom. The upstairs also offers two enclosed sleeping nooks--one (off the upstairs hallway) contains bunk beds, and the other (off an upstairs bedroom) includes a toddler bed and window. A third bedroom with a queen bed is located on the main floor (and shares the main floor full bath).

 

A large, eat-in kitchen has a view of the bluff and access to the deck. The two-level deck features several areas, including a screened porch off the kitchen/living room, a dining area with gas-grill and a lower seating area for viewing the bluff or relaxing. The upper level of the deck (including the dining area) is gated and great for small children. The house also has a covered front porch with rocking chairs and a porch swing.

 

Lazy Acres is convenient to several restaurants, coffee houses and sandwich shops. A wonderful place to visit throughout the year, the Sewanee-Monteagle Mountain area offers hiking, biking, climbing, spelunking, swimming, golf and racquet sports. It is less than 1 1/2 hours from Nashville, less than 1 hour from Chattanooga, less than 3 hours from Atlanta, and 2 1/2 hours from Birmingham.

 

Please note: The bluff is sloping, but parents will need to provide appropriate supervision of children at all times.
